Plus size Advocate Jae'lynn Shares Her Journey

We had an opportunity to talk to inspiring plus size advocate Jae’lynn. On a daily basis, she shares her advice and tips on fashion and travel.

Whenever she discovers a new plus size friendly activewear brand, she loves to try out their line. We were fortunate to have her try on and review Kinflyte posture bras as we understand how hard it can be to shop for plus size bras online. Jae’lynn shares her try-on reviews to make that process easier for women.

Here’s how our conversation went with Jae’lynn:

Tell us about yourself.
I’m Jae’lynn! I’m a 27 year old content creator based out of Vancouver, Washington. I’m engaged to the love of my life Jake (they/them) and we have a kitty we rescued during the pandemic. Her name is Little Gray. I love to travel! It’s my dream to see the world and visit as many places as I can.

I love going to concerts and want to attend some festivals soon. I’m really passionate about music and love EDM. I have a big personality, which you can tell as soon as I walk into any room. I’m on a mission to make the world a more accepting and inclusive place for people of all sizes.

What's the inspiration behind @Jaebaeofficial?
The inspiration behind my brands Jae Bae Productions and Jae Bae Official came to me when I was at my lowest point. I was sick, in and out of the hospital, and didn’t know if I was going to live or die. I always knew that I wanted to share my life story with the world in hopes of giving people inspiration to keep going no matter what circumstances they may face.

I also discovered that I wanted to help plus size babes live their best life with tips and knowledge that helped me along my path to self acceptance and body positivity. So I decided to start sharing my life on social media with the intentions of helping as many people as I possibly can. Whether that be helping them find places to shop, or navigating air travel in a plus size body, I wanted to share what’s helped me along the way.

As a plus size advocate, what are you most passionate about?
As a plus size advocate, I’m most passionate about making the world more accessible and accepting for people in larger bodies like myself. I want plus size people to be able to enjoy more activities, shop at more stores that carry their sizes, fly comfortably on a plane, visit restaurants and venues that actually offer inclusive seating, etc.

I want to shatter unrealistic body and beauty standards and show the world that plus size people can live their best life too. I’m passionate about advocating for the rights of plus size people and fighting for plus size equality. It all comes down to the fact that I’m passionate about helping people however I can.

What is the hardest part about being a content creator?
For me, the hardest part about being a content creator is dealing with criticism. I always want to ensure that the content I’m creating is helping people. With the hate I receive, it can be hard at times to know if what I’m doing is having the impact that I want.

Dealing with hate can make you doubt yourself at times and when it gets really bad, it can feel isolating. Another part that’s hard is when my followers tell me they are attacked in the comments by other people. That’s the part that I hate the most and find the hardest. I would take all the hate comments in the world if it meant that someone else didn’t have to deal with them.

What does confidence mean to you? And, how do you encourage others to be more confident in themselves?
Confidence means believing in yourself even when it’s hard, and accept yourself fully for exactly who you are. It’s finding strength to keep going even when you feel like it’s impossible. I try to encourage others to be more confident in themselves by talking about my journey to self-acceptance and encouraging them to accept and love themselves at every stage of life.

I encourage people to celebrate their victories in life, whether big or small. I try to remind people that you only fail when you stop trying. The things we might consider failures can help us learn and grow to become stronger.
